Frantic action stations this morning. Grant was hailed by Kathy
Staub whilst driving past each other. "There are whales going past your house!" She cried, and rushed off to tell Ronna at the club. Ronna heard the news and ran out of the health club, leaving all her stuff behind. We
gathered at Marion Gerard's house, where we bumped into Meredith who was about to do a spot of weeding for the
Gerards. Ronna spotted fins just as they headed out of sight around Point Doughty. Figuring that West Beach would be the best spot along their path to see them, we all bundled into Meredith's car and (safely and legally) sped off.
They were directly offshore from West Beach. Here are a few pictures. They breached a few times, but seemed pretty intent on getting to where they were going.
Thanks Kathy for tracking us down! Grant's very first
Orca encounter! Hurrah!

Thanks for posting.
Man, we never saw whales when we lived there (not that we didn't relish the view). Good for you!!!
