Cowlitz Pow Wow

Here are a couple of clips of the Cowlitz Pow Wow. This video doesn't really capture the moment, but it is a glimpse. I really wanted Kira and Ethan to experience a Pow Wow. Something that I grew up with and never really questioned, but to them it is totally foreign... I also found myself a little at a loss for words to explain it to them. I find the songs, the drums comforting. It reminds me of my childhood. I also find it all really sad. Like something really genuine and real that has become marketable. A culture known to most Americans as badly painted horses and poorly assembled dream catchers. It's so much more and yet I have to find a really good way to describe the modern day Indian.... any thoughts?
